The Friends of Fort Worden State Park is a registered non-profit organization that supports park improvements and programs using funds raised on-site through fund raising activities such as its Gift Shop located in the Old Guardhouse Visitor Center and the Fort Worden Brick Paver Fund Raiser, in addition to tax deductible contributions received through its annual membership program as well as one-time donations. It is one of seventeen Friends Groups supporting Washington State parks and properties. Friends volunteers participate in a wide range of activities in support of the park, including operating the Visitor Center, the Oral History Center, and maintenance activities (e.g., trail maintenance, beach access stair repair). In addition to its volunteer activities, the Friends also provide financial support for selected procurements supportive of the operating goals of the Fort Worden State Park Conference Center. The Friends of Fort Worden work closely with park management to identify key projects for Friends' funding and volunteer efforts.
